Sound massage is a deep relaxation method that works at all levels of the mind, body and soul. Part of a tradition of knowledge applied in Indian therapeutics for more than 5000 years, it is said that the history of the singing bowl goes back to ancient Mesopotamia. In the modern era, since the early eighties, the German engineering graduate (FH) in Physical Technology Peter Hess has done research and experiments on the impact of bowls and traditional music on the human mind and body. Over time, he developed the Peter Hess Sound Massage system.
Placed directly on a clothed body, the singing bowls are gently tapped with a felt mallet to create a soothing sound and gentle vibration. The bowls are strategically placed to work through the meridian points, sending vibrations throughout the body and creating a flow of sound and energy for it to absorb. According to Peter Hess, “The sound of the singing bowl touches our innermost soul and brings it into vibration. The sound breaks tension, mobilizes self healing forces, and sets free creative energies.” During a singing bowl session, one can easily release stress, anxiety, worry, doubt and other negative feelings that are detrimental to our health.
